Harmonizing Wines and Zodiac Signs?

Yes, it's possible – and it makes perfect sense!

I remember it well, it was 2011 when I came across the article 'Sommelière Cecília Aldaz harmonizes wines and signs.' I clipped it out and kept it with care. More than a decade later, I'm still enchanted by the idea that grapes have personalities as striking as the signs of the zodiac.

And if there's one sign that leaves its mark wherever it goes, it's Aries. So, it's only fitting to start this series with it.

🌟 Aries' Grape? RIESLING!

Arians know what they want and only do what they want. With a natural talent for leading and initiating movements, they are always ready for action. They are intense, bold, and often unpredictable.

The Riesling grape is the perfect translation of this energy.

Known as the queen of white grapes, it has a complex personality: a blend of sweetness and acidity in a delightful balance. It's capable of producing exotic, unique wines with notes that are distinctly its own. It reacts well to difficult climates, resisting with courage — a striking characteristic of Aries' energy. It's firm, yet reveals sweetness. Generous, yet highly competitive. Riesling is what it wants to be. @cecialdaz

🍇 What is wine made with Riesling like?

According to Wine Folly's Essential Wine Guide, Riesling yields aromatic white wines, intensely fragrant with notes of sweet fruits. On the palate, these wines can range from dry to sweet, and it's precisely this versatility that makes them so interesting.

  • Sweet Riesling: pairs incredibly well with spicy and flavorful dishes, such as Indian and Thai cuisines.

  • Dry Riesling: Its acidity perfectly complements slightly fatty meats, like duck and bacon.

🍷 Stages of this wine's production:

  1. Harvesting and selecting the grapes

  2. Separating the bunches (destemming)

  3. Pressing to separate the must from the skins and seeds

  4. Fermentation without the skins

  5. Stopping fermentation before the total conversion of sugar

  6. Resting in tanks at low temperatures for stabilization

  7. Clarification, bottling, and… ready to toast!

🔥 Wine with an Aries Soul

Just like Aries, Riesling doesn't go unnoticed. It arrives with presence, surprises with its intensity, and, like every good pioneer, opens unique paths wherever it goes.

So, did you recognize yourself in this wine?

Tell me in the comments — I'd love to know! 🥂

With love,
